OFFSITE CHURCH

Frequently Asked Questions

Sunday Services

  • Our final services in the church building will be on 16th March, and then we will be worshipping in other locations from 23rd March.

  • We will be combining our earlier and later morning services into ONE "Together at 10.30am" service, in the Nova Cinema, Screen 1, each week.

Our evening service will be at 6.30pm at St Andrews Goldsworth Park (as they don't have an evening service).

  • For the 10:30 morning Nova Cinema Service, you can park in the Peacock Centre.  There is disabled parking, and lift access.  We expect our "free parking" machine will be work as usual.

For the 6:30 evening service, you will be able to park for free at the Waitrose Car Park, immediately next to St Andrew's Church.

  • All our usual youth and children's groups will continue to run on Sundays.

On Sunday mornings, our younger children's groups will meet in smaller rooms and screens in the cinema.  Our older children and youth will meet in spaces in Italia Conti - youth will meet at 10.30am in the cinema lobby and then walk down together.  Children will join in the usual opening time of worship, before being taken to their groups rooms - older children will be walked safely to Italia Conti by leaders.

On Sunday evenings, C4 Ignite group will meet at St Andrew's Goldsworth Park at 5.30pm before the evening service.  They will need to be dropped off and picked up from there.

  • This is yet to be confirmed, but we may switch to livestreaming the SixThirty Service instead due to lighting/tech capability. However, we strongly encourage all who can to join the adventure in-person!

  • We will continue to offer prayer ministry at both services.

ACCESSIBILITY MATTERS

  • There is level access at both the cinema and at St Andrew’s Church. There are lifts and wheelchair access to the front row of the cinema for those with reduced mobility.

  • There are disabled access toilets at the cinema and St Andrew’s Church Goldsworth Park.

  • We believe there will be a hearing loop at the cinema.

There is a hearing loop at St Andrew’s Church.

Bookshop & Café

  • The final day of trading for the bookshop and café will be 1st March.  Do come in and take advantage of the special offers and to see our wonderful team.  Both spaces will then close for refurbishment and plan to reopen at the end of September / beginning October.

  • Phil will still be working offsite, running conferences, manning bookstands in Woking and locally.  If you would like a book, you can purchase this online, or email Phil at service@originbooks.org

  • There may be some smaller bookings until Saturday 15th March, but then the building will be closed for bookings, as we do the final packing up of the church.  We are hoping to take bookings from the end of November, when the church building reopens for worship services.

Community support

  • You will still be able to get in touch with Sarah Goddard, our CAP centre manager and community worker, and she can still meet with clients offsite. Email Sarah at sarahgoddard@capuk.org

  • We aim to keep running on a Wednesday between 3-5pm at the Maybury Centre* (TBC).  Email Sarah at sarahgoddard@capuk.org if you’d like to get involved

  •  Sunbeams will NOT run during the building closure, but there will be occasional one-off events planned for the summer.  We still want to support families, especially those who may be vulnerable or struggling.  If you want to be in touch with Hannah please email hannah.joyce@ccwoking.org

How can i help?

  • We will need a lot of help to pack up things in the church from the 1st March (when the cafe and bookshop shut), and then from 16th March (when we have our final services in church).  We will need help in packing, places to store items, taking rubbish to the tip, moving items into storage. etc.  Click here to tell us how you can help.

  • There are lots of ways you can help on a Sunday.  We need "setting up" and "setting down" teams for the cinema, and extra help to set up spaces in Italia Conti.  We will need extra help with stewarding, signposting, and chaperoning children to different group rooms (DBS required), we need more welcomers, and roadies to set up worship. Click here to tell us how you can help.

  • We always have need for more leaders and helpers in all our groups, and midweek ministries.  If you are interested in finding out more, please do contact:

  • Do you have space in your house/attic/spare room, for longer term storage, or for people to use as a "hot desk office" space? Click here to tell us how you can help.

  • Our building contractor will be doing most of the work onsite, and the building will be out of use.  However, if you have gifts in fundraising, we'd love to get you involved in that side of the project. Email gateway@ccwoking.org

Midweek meetings

  • The youth and kids’ midweek hubs will continue to meet as usual on their usual days, though the timings may change slightly depending on the availability of the venues we will be hiring.  The exact location and times will be finalised shortly, but the days should remain the same.

  • Most of our Life Groups meet in homes around Woking, and they will continue to meet as before.  One of our daytime Life Groups usually meets in church, so they will meet at the usual times but meet in the Wheatsheaf Pub, on Chobham Road - map link here.  If you are in this group, please contact Carolyn Dickins via the admin office for more information, admin@ccwoking.org

  • The organising teams of Men and Women's events will continue to plan a programme, though it may be a little less frequent.  Events will be planned for offsite locations, such as restaurants, pubs, and gardens etc.

Contacting us

  • We are working hard on signposting and clear, eye-catching visuals to make sure that everyone that wants to, is able to locate us. We are also planning ways to make our welcome and steward teams more visible, and possibly even to escort people from ChristChurch to Nova if needed. However, this will take a LOT of people so if you're open to being involved in that, please click this link to tell us how you can help.

  • If you have a non-emergency pastoral need, speak to a member of clergy on a Sunday, or send brief details in an email, and we will connect you with a member of the Pastoral Ministry Team.

In case of emergency pastoral need, please telephone the Church office, on 01483 397446 who will connect you with the On-Call clergyperson.

  • It will be possible to reach all staff as usual by email, and via their church phone numbers.

Call us on 01483 740897 and follow the menu options.

  • We will continue to implement our safeguarding policy (Safeguarding Information) and report safeguarding concerns with the same rigour that we do now, and ensure that details for how to report a concern are accessible in each alternative venue we are using.
