GIVING to GATEWAY

“Thank you for considering giving to the Gateway Project

Our vision for Gateway is to enhance, expand, and improve our building to be fit-for-purpose for the 21st Century.  It will enable us to better welcome our local community and church groups with better use of space and a dedicated Youth and Community Centre with updated systems that take better care of the environment.

OUR TARGET is to RAISE £5m for PHASE 1 and so far we’ve RAISED £3.7m

…thanks to the fantastic generosity of our congregation’s gifts or pledges of money. We would love to hear from anyone who would like to support the project with a donation, pledge or grant to help us reach our target.”

ideas for giving

  • Sell some stuff

You may have unwanted stuff you could sell on ebay / Facebook Marketplace, or a potential DaVinci hanging around in the attic gathering dust. Could you “Sell Some Stuff” for Gateway?

  • give regularly by standing order

You may want to give a sum by monthly standing order e.g. £1,200 through payments of £100 a month. Consistent regular giving by Standing Order is a great help to our on-going cashflow.

  • "give it up for gateway"

Could you give up something you regularly spend money and give this to Gateway?

Giving up a regular coffee or sandwich could raise £80 in a month, £1,200 in a year (with Gift Aid).

If you usually take several holidays, could you stay at home one week and donate the cost to Gateway?

  • Give a one-off lump sum

Giving a one-off sum immediately would be great, or perhaps you can pledge a one-off sum at a specific date in the future (ideally before we begin in Spring 2025).

  • Fundraising Fun

Activities like sponsored runs, bake sales, garage sales etc are great ways, especially for kids and young people, to raise funds for the project and are great fun too!

REMEMBER…

  • Remember if you pay UK tax, we can claim 25% Gift Aid on your gift e.g. an £80 gift becomes £100! You can find a Gift Aid form here and send it to stewardship@ccwoking.org

  • As Christians all giving is part of our worship. It shows our thanks to God for all he has given us and our desire to use all that we have to serve him. Because of this, anything we give should be done with prayer (asking God what he is calling us to give) and thankfulness (God loves cheerful and generous givers – 2 Cor 9.6ff). So do PRAY about how God is leading you to give to Gateway.

The ‘Feeding of the 5000’ and the ‘Parable of the Talents’ remind us that every gift given with love, and placed into God’s hands, can grow immeasurably more than we imagine (Eph 3.20).

  • Firstly, this giving does need to be in addition to any usual giving to Christ Church. We are committed to maintaining our regular mission and ministry during this time and your regular giving enables this.

Secondly, whilst we know our giving will need to be deep and sacrificial to enable the project, please only give or pledge money you can afford (or know will be available and affordable when promised). We don’t want anyone to struggle because of their gift.

  • For more ideas of how you could give, particularly if you are a higher rate tax payer, updating your will, able to offer a loan or release equity in your home, see this leaflet. If you are interested in pursuing any of these options, please email stewardship@ccwoking.org to discuss how this might work.
