Revd Adrian Beavis to be our new Vicar

On Sunday we announced the appointment of Revd Adrian Beavis as the new Vicar of Christ Church.

Adrian is originally from Birmingham, where he was born and brought up.  He met Charlotte, his wife, at university where they were both studying and then trained for the ministry at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford.  Adrian's first post was initially as Curate and then Associate Vicar of St Stephen's in Twickenham.  He was there for 8 years before moving to be Vicar of St Luke’s, Earls Court, London in 2008.  Adrian and Charlotte have 3 children, Ella (13), Sam (11) and Josh (6) and they have asked that you would keep them in your prayers as a family as they prepare to move to Christ Church, particularly for the transition into new schools for the children.

Adrian’s start date is still being worked out in discussions between the Guildford Diocese and London Diocese.  He had planned to take a short sabbatical in 2020 and the current thinking is he will take some time off between finishing at St Luke's and starting with us so he will probably join us around Easter next year. We will confirm the start date once this has been agreed.

We are very blessed that Pippa is with us at this time and able to help lead the church through this interregnum, ably supported by Thea and our very capable staff team.  Of course, as Wardens we will be closely involved supporting Pippa and the team.

Please pray

Please continue to pray for Peter, Clare, Anna, Samuel and Eleanor.

Pray for God’s protection for them as a family as they prepare to leave CCW, and that God would hold them tight as they hold a sense of loss at this time.

Pray for them all as they leave their family home of 17 years. Pray that their new home in Guildford would be a blessing to all the family, a place of fun as well as a place to retreat to.

Pray for Peter as he lets go of his role here at CCW that he would have time to refresh and renew with God. Pray that God would be speaking to him clearly about his role as Director of Mission at the Diocese, giving him vision, wisdom and discernment. Pray for good relationships with his new team and that he would be able to bring his sense of fun to his role.

Pray for Clare that her job would help to give her a sense of stability throughout this time of change. Pray that in their new church family she would have the freedom to just be and from that place to explore what God is calling her to next. Pray for good friendships within her new church family as well as good support for her from long standing friends.
